Friarmere were on the receiving end of a huge score of 304 for 5 set by the league leaders Heyside, in which the highlights of this game was not only the highest innings score of the season so far but the highest knock in the league this season from the Heyside professional, Roelof Hugo who scored an unbeaten 185 which overshadowed somewhat Nick Campbell’s fine all-round performance of 68 and 5 for 22 with the ball. Ryan Barnes also chipped in with 40. Paul Jewitt took four wickets for the visitors.
Glodwick are inching their way impressively up the league table winning their third game from the last four by beating yet another of the top teams this season, Moorside. The best of this match was the all-round performance from Imran Aslam, the Glodwick professional who scored 92 not out and took five wickets for 45 runs.
Saddleworth are beginning to make slow but steady progress after an indifferent start to the season and a 6 for 20 return from Stephen Holmes, made sure their batters had little to do in passing Shaw’s total of 103 for the loss of one wicket.
Uppermill consolidated their second place in the league with an emphatic win at home to Droylsden. Doing the damage for Uppermill was Zeeshan Khan who scored 84 and 50 not out from veteran, Gary Crossley.
Bamford Fieldhouse, with an all-star cast and a match in hand are in third place in the league table and with Uppermill, look likely to be the teams who will give Heyside their strongest challenge for the championship. Two batsmen fell just short of the century for Bamford who managed to end Austerlands gallant effort just 44 runs short of the asking. Paddy McKeown fell three runs short of the ton and Lincoln Roberts was out for 93. Perudu Seneviratne (spell that without looking) was the best of Austerland’s batsmen. Best of the bowlers was Bamford’s Max Power who took four wickets for 51 runs.
There was no play in the Hollinwood v Greenfield match.
