The season’s joint highest knock of the season - 148 from Heyside’s Ryan Barnes helped maintain his team’s lead at the top of the table in a high scoring match at Droylsden. For the home side, Michael Schofield and Gareth Dent scored 65 and 58 respectively in a respectable score of 224 for 6 but Heyside knocked them off for the loss of just three wickets.
The season’s best bowling performance to date of 8 for 22 from Hollinwood’s Abdul Aqeel, polished off the Shaw batsmen for a dismal 79 runs and Hollinwood’s reply for the loss of two wickets ended the match well before six o clock.
In his side’s away match at Saddleworth, Zafar Iqbal of Friarmere took his season’s total runs to a remarkable 777 after just eleven matches. Mark Lees of Saddleworth took six wickets for 40 runs in Friarmere’s innings of 172 which proved to be twenty nine runs too many for the home side.
Two scores of 59 from Uppermill’s Zeeshan Khan and James Baron, the latter’s being not out, were the mainstay of Uppermill’s easy win in a high scoring match at Stayley.
A fine return of 7 for 53 by Greenfield bowler Ben Johnson couldn’t stop Francis Sutherland scoring a century for Moorside who’s side nevertheless failed by ten runs to match Greenfield’s total of 194, despite a return from their star bowler, Hubert Lloyd Kingston. Greenfield’s young stumper Chris Gill scored 72.
