Heyside still hold top spot in the league table after winning one and losing one in a double weekend of matches. Professional, Roelof Hugo reached his 1000 runs for the season with an average of just under 130 runs per innings for the season so far. Following a comfortable win against Hollinwood on Saturday, it was Austerlands, lying in fourth place who clipped their wings on Sunday, winning by four runs in a nail-biting finish. Perudu Seneveratne scored 60 and David Oldfield 59 for Austerlands and James Davies 54 for Heyside.

Lurking in second place, thirty points behind but with a match in hand, Bamford won both their matches, dismissing Stayley on Saturday for a lowly 58 and on Sunday, it was the turn of the batsmen impressing in a high scoring total of 294 for 3 in an easy win at Saddleworth. Darren Shadford scored 106 not out, one of the week-end’s three centuries and Max Power just missed out with 92 not out. Ben Willis scored 52 for Saddleworth.

The batsman scoring the highest knock of the week-end was Friarmere’s Zafar Iqbal who scored 125 in a win over Glodwick to take his season’s total runs so far this season to 1125. Glodwick came back with a vengeance on Sunday however, by beating Uppermill who were in second spot in the league but now lie third behind Bamford Fieldhouse. James Baron took five wickets for 51 in this match but Imran Asran, Glodwick’s professional had a more satisfying week-end with performances of 5 for 62 and 6 for 45, the former accompanied by 62 with the bat.

Lee Warburton took a hat-trick in a haul of 5 for 58 for Moorside in a home win against Hollinwood and is now getting close to forty for the season. Professional Alan Durose helped himself to the other five wickets. Moorside lost on Saturday to Uppermill.

Peter Gill of Greenfield was the weekend’s most prolific wicket taker with 6 for 81 against Shaw, Kane Fullalove offering the only resistance with 51 not out and Shaw‘s, R. Doherty taking 5 for 39, then following-on on Sunday with 7 for 73 against Stayley for whom, professional Rehan Rafique scored 129. Greenfield and Bamford Fieldhouse were the only teams to win both weekend’s games.

Droylsden had an easy win by nine wickets against Austerlands which was the only one of the week-end for the two Tameside teams. Gareth Dent scored 43 not out. On Sunday, they were on the receiving end of a score of 70 not out from Shaw’s, Gareth Harrop and 6 for 59 from professional Ruwan Dissanayake, a score of 71 from P. Shah being Droylsden’s only reply.
