Hollinwood’s challenge for honours has all but ended with the unfortunate mishap of discovering they have unwittingly played two professionals this season which has resulted in the club being deducted a record 148 points. Undaunted, they thrashed Saddleworth on Saturday, Quiroz Riaz scoring 133 and R. Khan taking 7 wickets for 76 runs, polishing Saddleworth off for 186.

Professional, Roelof Hugo, 108 and Nick Campbell 82, made sure Heyside stay top of the league table, Dean Watkinson taking 4 for 64 with the ball in a handsome win at home to Moorside.

Droylsden had a long awaited slice of good fortune beating the league’s newest club, Glodwick. Droylsden’s Michael Schofield recorded the best bowling performance of the day, taking 7 for 53.

Stayley, the other Tameside team, chasing a huge score of 284 set by Austerlands couldn’t match their neighbour’s win despite a century from their professional and a half-century from Stephen Bird. Adam Young scored 72 and professional, Donwell Hector scored 92 for Austerlands.

Will Dornan gave Bamford Fieldhouse’s big guns a shock with a fine return of 5 for 35, resulting in what proved to be a comfortable for Uppermill for whom Zeeshan Khan score 66 not out.

Friarmere lost their derby game away to Greenfield, Peter Gill taking 5 for 24, restricting Friarmere to 111 all out. Jonathan Ainley was Greenfield’s best batsman, scoring 61 out of their innings total of 112 for 8.
