REVISED RULES (January 2010)

1....ELIGIBILITY
Entry .is open to all Full Membership Clubs in the League to enter 1 team only, which should be their strongest side. Clubs get a free entry into the competition.

2....COMPETITION & RESULT
This is a knock out competition. The team scoring most runs be declared the winner. In the event of a tied match the team losing the least number of wickets will be declared winners , and if they are still equal after that, then the team scoring the most runs in the first 10 overs will be declared winners.

3....DATES
1st and 2nd Round matches will be played on Friday nights on dates determined by the League Committee. The Semi Finals and Final will all be played on August Bank Holiday Monday at one venue to be decided by the Committee after discussion with the Sponsor.
If adverse weather causes the abandonment of any match in Rounds 1 and 2 and because of the conditions a “bowl out” is not possible then if both teams agree the match can be replayed on a mutually convenient date within the next 7 days.
If both teams can not agree a date then a toss of a coin must decide the winner. If a match is replayed and again subsequently abandoned due to weather then a “bowl out” must take place on the night or if this is not possible then a toss of a coin will decide the winner.
If the Semi Finals/Final day is affected by the weather and play can start later than scheduled ,then reduced over matches may be played down to a minimum of 5 overs per side. If no play is possible and if no other suitable day can be agreed by all parties then a” bowl out” should take place to decide all affected matches or only as a last resort by toss of a coin if this is not possible.

8..MATCH BALL
A new or used S. & D.C.L. Standard ball may be used at the discretion of the fielding side. If starting with a used ball then the fielding side is not allowed to revert to a new ball during that particular innings. ( Teams are advised to have sufficient balls available because time will not be allowed by the Umpires for ball searches when hits out of the ground etc occur..... Refer to Over Rate Penalties ...Rule 9 )

9...OVER RATE PENALTIES.
All sides are expected to bowl the first ball of the 20th over within 1 hour10 minutes playing time of the start time. If not achieved play shall continue until 20 overs have been bowled (subject to Rule 7 above) Failure to achieve the required over rate will result in a penalty of 6 runs for each over not bowled in the time allowed being added to the batting sides total..
Umpires will be instructed to to apply a strict interpretation of time wasting by Batsmen and apply a deduction of 6 runs to their teams score at the end of the innings for each offence. Specifically batsmen are expected to be ready for the start of a new over just as soon as the Bowler and fielding side are in position.
If overs are not completed due to time wasting then run penalties will be automatically applied by the Umpires against the side who in their opinion are responsible.

10...STOPPAGES
Umpires will allow stoppage time for INJURIES when 1 over will be allowed to be bowled for every 3 minutes lost playing time so that the maximum number of overs possible can be achieved. NO TIME will be allowed for changes of equipment unless damaged or dangerous.

11..BATSMAN TIMED OUT
After the fall of a wicket, the Bowler should be at the start of his run as soon as the new Batsman has taken guard. If the incoming batsman HAS NOT TAKEN GUARD OR BE IN A POSITION FOR HIS PARTNER TO RECEIVE THE NEXT BALL WITHIN 1 MINUTE 30 SECONDS of the fall of the previous wicket then HE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE TIMED OUT BY THE UMPIRE even if the fielding side have not appealed.

12...FIELDING RESTRICTIONS
T to apply for the complete innings. A fielding arc of 20 YARDS marked from the middle stump at either end and joined by parallel lines from a point square of the wickets. Either White Discs, rope or White Line to be used. 4 Fielders plus Wicketkeeper to be within this area once the Bowler commences his run up.
Normal leg side restrictions apply ( I.e. No more than 2 men behind square ) EXCEPT see Rules 13& 14 below).

13..NO BALLS
Normal restrictions apply as to what constitutes a No Ball and ALL No Balls will count as 2 runs to the batting side ,and MUST be re bowled. ONLY AFTER A FOOT FAULT NO BALL will the Batsman be allowed a FREE HIT for which NO FIELDING CHANGES CAN BE MADE even if the Batsmen have run and crossed off the previous No Ball and a right hand /left hand batting combination means there are too many fielders behind square on the leg side for that particular ball ONLY .When the batsman is allowed a free hit the ONLY WAY one of them can be DISMISSED is by RUN OUT. With regard to SHORT PITCHED BOWLING One ball per over is allowed but must pass below the Batsmans head height in his normal stance. Any ball over head height will be called a No Ball .

14..WIDES
All Wides to count as 2 runs to the batting side, and the Ball will NOT COUNT as one of the over. Any ball passing wide of the leg wicket be called a Wide irrespective of where it pitches. (N.B. Should any runs result from Wide balls then the fielding restrictions as in Rule 13 above will continue to apply)

15...BOWLERS
May bowl a MAXIMUM OF 4 OVERS .in a 20 over innings. Should the match be delayed or if weather intervenes then no bowler may bowl more than one fifth of the overs available, unless of course such proportion has been completed before the interruption.. If a Bowler is injured or incapacitated in any way during an over then that over must be completed by another player who did not bowl the previous over and will not bowl the next over. And who has not already completed his allocation of overs.
If this player then bowls later in the innings this part over will then be considered as a complete over and count towards his total allocation. Similarly if the injured or incapacitated bowler resumes bowling at a later stage the part over uncompleted will count as a complete over towards his allocation.

16...SUBSTITUTES
Once a match commences Substitutes will only be allowed in the case of injury or illness. A Substitute is subject to the normal Laws of Cricket and is not allowed to Bat, Bowl, Keep wicket or Captain the side.
The EXCEPTION to this being when a BOWL OUT occurs and he is allowed to bowl under the sudden death format.
